Panoramic view of a street created using VR (view during the creation process): terraced houses made of red brick with skylights and red and yellow front doors. Trees, sidewalks, and a green lawn are visible in front of the houses. In the left half of the image, the sky is dark and the outlines of the houses are (still) blurred.

MAXLab Freiburg

In 2022, MAXLab Freiburg opened its doors. MAXLab Freiburg is a research facility for conducting VR-based and other types of social science and behavioral research. The MAXLab contains five multi-purpose rooms, allowing multiple studies to be run at the same time. It also includes a large (over 85 m2) area that allows for room-scale, multi-user virtual reality. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art VR hardware. With our equipment, we can conduct full-body tracking, motion capture, face tracking, eye tracking, and biometric data collection. Although the primary focus of the lab is on VR, it is also designed to provide state-of-the-art research facilities for other types of human-subjects research.
