Main Focus

Peter Wozniak is a VR & AR expert and since August 2020 leads the newly founded Crime Research, Innovative Methods and Experimentation Laboratory (MAXLab) of the Criminology department of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law. In the MAXLab, research studies and experiments are conducted using virtual reality and other new technologies. As lab director, Peter Wozniak is responsible for setting up the laboratory and cooperates closely with the scientists of our institute and participating research institutions in the implementation of projects.

    Development of a ToF camera-based spatial recognition of obstacles and their interactive signaling within virtual reality.

    Conception and development of a software framework for Android and iOS AR apps based on Unity3D and Vuforia for the company Visionsbox GmbH.
  • 2011–2019: Research associate and doctoral student, Offenburg University.

    Realization of an interactive user-centered projection-based 3D game installation. Game control realized with a self-developed tracking method.

The Virtual Burglary Project is a research program co-headed by Prof. Claire Nee (University of Portsmouth) and involves a collaboration with researchers from Leiden University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
